Iraq – Calls to speed up the process of selecting the next prime minister

The identity of the candidates for the new government in Iraq is still unclear after the expiry of the constitutional deadline granted to the President of the Republic under the country’s constitution to announce the next prime minister, as a result of that demonstrators in Baghdad’s central Tahrir Square today called for speeding up the formation of a new government, dissolving parliament and legislating a new electoral law that would prevent political parties from participating in the electoral process.
