Yemen – US ambassador to Yemen affirms his country’s support for peace process efforts

The United States ambassador to Yemen, Matthew Tueller, stressed his country’s commitment to support the efforts exerted by the UN Envoy to Yemen Martin Griffiths, in order to achieve stability in the country, adding that his country’s best interest in Yemen lies in having a Yemeni government that is able to handle violent extremist groups, therefore fortifying its borders by land and sea. Tueller reiterated that his country welcomes the idea of assembling the House of Representatives in Seiyun, and he described this step as a major cornerstone of the state. During a joint press conference held in Aden, the Yemeni Prime Minister Moeen Abdulmalik expressed genuine gratitude towards the USA and its sustained role in supporting the Yemeni government and assisting it in establishing stability in the liberated areas. He also said that he looks forward for further support by the international community to help the Yemeni government overcome the existing challenges, and help it keep its promises and fulfill its obligations to all Yemenis without exception.
