Iraq – Security analysts: US continues to pressure the Popular Mobilization Forces
Baghdad-Iraq 13/03/2019
Security analysts believe that the United States has been putting pressure on the Popular Mobilization Forces in Iraq for quite a while, in an attempt to diminish Iran’s influence over some of the factions and political parties, hoping to avoid any kind of complication while executing the US project in Iraq and the region, therefore subjecting them sanctions similar to the ones the US enforced over a year ago against three factions, including Al-Najba’. Analysts also mentioned that the US sanctions against what they call Iran’s armors within the Popular Mobilization Forces are increasingly escalating day by day.The US State Department has added “Al-Najba’ Movement” and its leader Akram Al-Kaabi to the terrorism list in order to stop their resources from being used in planning and implementing terrorist attacks. The resolution states for freezing all the movement’s possessions and businesses, and bans US individuals from dealing with them.
