Iraq – Reconstruction of Al-Hurriya Bridge connecting Mosul’s two coasts

The Ministry of Construction and Housing instructed its technical and engineering cadres to begin rehabilitating Al-Hurriya Bridge, which connects the two banks of Mosul’s Tigris River, and is the second of 5 strategic bridges connecting Mosul’s two coasts to be entirely destroyed by the war against ISIS. So far, the Iraqi Government rehabilitation three of the 5 bridges, with the aim of easing the heavy traffic jams on the floating bridges established by the Iraqi forces during the war against ISIS. Zuhair Al-Araji, the mayor of Mosul, emphasized the importance of these bridges, as they keep Mosul’s two sides connected, especially as Mosul’s universities are located on the left coast of the city, and many students need these bridges to be able to reach their universities on a daily basis, not to mention that all of the service departments that had been reconstructed are also located in the left coast.
