Syria: Akito celebration
Syrian society components of Akkadians, Babylonians, Assyrians, Chaldeans and even Christians are celebrating ‘Akito’ day in Al-Qamishli, north-eastern Syria, which is a special day in the calendar of the civilizations that passed through the territories of Syria for being the Assyrian New Year which marks the first of April of each year, and represents the renewal of life cycle in nature for a civilization that knew the value of contact with nature and the need to adjust the time with the vital perimeter of the agricultural seasons.

In spite of the circumstances that pervade the area, they insisted on celebrating their day in light of the Syrian democratic forces holidays. The attendants of the ceremony assert that they are celebrating to reject the injustice and terrorism that was overthrown by ISIS in the region, hoping for a future in which unite the people of a free and democratic Syria.
