Yemen – UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs Arrives in Sanaa

The UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Mark Lowcock, arrived in Sana’a International Airport this morning for a three-day visit and spoke to the press upon his arrival: “I came to Yemen because of the deteriorating humanitarian situation which has further deteriorated since my last visit.” He added that he briefed the Security Council on five things that we need to happen, namely improving the living conditions, easing the suffering of the citizens, and agreeing to a ceasefire especially around the facilities used by the relief agencies to ensure the distribution of humanitarian supplies, especially in Hudaydah, and providing adequate economic resources, paying salaries, and providing hard currency in the market to ensure the stability of the currency. “
