Iraq- KDP comes first in Iraqi Kurdistan region elections

The ruling Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) led by Massud Barzani came first in a parliamentary election in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, winning 45 seats our of 111 seats. The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) came second with 21 seats and Movement of Change (Gorran movement) came in third place with 12 seats, and the rest of the seats were distributed among new generation movement, Islamic group, Reform group and Azadi group. The other 11 quota seats were distributed to the Turkmen Development Party, the Turkmen People’s group, the Turkmen reform group, the Turkmen front and other minority groups.
