Iraq – US-Iranian conflict confuses the security scene in Basra

The United States closed its consulate in Basra after it received an order from the State Department for all US personnel in the city of Basra to leave after attack threat by Iraqi groups led by the Iranian government, the most recent attack is a missile strikes near the US consulate yesterday. For their part, citizens in Basra expressed their strong refusal to turn Iraq in general and their city in particular into a battlefield between the United States and Iran to settle political accounts between them, recalling what happened weeks before the attack on the Iranian consulate by groups supported by Washington, according to Iranian officials.
