Iraq – Wide criticism of the government report on the abolition of all forms of discrimination against women

A group of civil society organizations held a press conference in the Iraqi capital Baghdad to discuss the government’s report on Iraq’s compliance with the implementation of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination. Participants criticized the government report for lacking accurate and specific information, and containing old data that has not been updated, Emphasizing the need to raise awareness among women’s organizations, human rights activists, Governments and other bodies about the importance of the Convention and its principles in promoting human rights and women in particular.
