Yemen – Shabwa’s elite forces continue to pursue al-Qaeda members in Shabwa

Shabwa’s elite forces, supported by the UAE forces, continue their military operations to clear the remaining hills and mountain ranges in the areas where al-Qaeda members are holed up in Shabwa governorate, southern Yemen, where the forces continue to hunt down and clamp down on armed groups, especially after recently being able to launch a military operation to control the “Al Mathab valley”, which had a training camp for al-Qaeda members, after violent clashes that lasted for hours and resulted in killing six members, injuring dozens of the armed members and wounding three soldiers of Shabwa’s elite forces. Wadi al-Mathab is one of al-Qaeda’s most important strongholds of because of its location which is between Shabwa’s eastern and western directorates, in addition to its rough landscape and rugged mountains.
