Iraq – Campaign for the reconstruction and expansion of the Lalish Temple, one of the oldest Yezidi temples.
Sheikhan District – Dahuk Governorate – Kurdistan Region – Iraq. 29/7/2018
The reconstruction and expansion campaign continues in the Lalish temple, the main temple for Yezidis, which is located southeast of Dahuk in the Kurdistan region of Iraq, where many rituals and ceremonies of the Yazidi religious holidays take place. A number of workers and builders voluntarily participate in the campaign to reconstruct and expand the main sections of the temple, which is known for its great architecture and construction style, and its location in a mountainous area adorned with trees and water springs. It is noteworthy that in August 2014, ISIS invaded Sinjar and other Yazidi areas after it invaded Mosul, the second largest city in Iraq, and committed murder and captivity against thousands of Yazidis.
