Iraq – UNHCR discusses plans to return Iraqi refugees to their areas.

UNHCR’s Secretary of State for the Middle East and North Africa (UNHCR), Amin Awad, discussed with officials in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region UNHCR plans to return displaced persons to their liberated areas. Awwad pointed out during a press conference in Erbil, Kurdistan Region, that the United Nations, the Iraqi Government and the Government of the Territory need to cooperate to solve the problems of more than two million displaced Iraqis living in the camps and cities of the region, and return them to their areas during the current and next year. He also stressed the need to rehabilitate the liberated areas and provide services so that the displaced can return.
