Iraq – Launching election campaigns in the Kurdistan region

The Electoral Commission for elections in the Kurdistan region announced the launch of electoral campaigns for candidates in the elections of the Iraqi Council of Representatives scheduled for 12 May, where the candidates of the blocks and different lists hanged their images and signs bearing electoral slogans in the streets, while the Commission continues its preparations to hold the elections on time while holding meetings and educational seminars. In the same context, the Commission held a meeting today with the Supreme Council for Women in Kurdistan on committing to UNHCR’s instructions during the election campaign by avoiding mudslinging the female candidates of the House of Representatives in particular.
