Yemen – Rabies disease and lack of vaccines threaten the lives of citizens in Taiz

Taiz – Yemen 12/3/2018

In Dhubab area of Taiz province, the child, Farid Mohammed, was infected with “rabies”, which is a deadly virus spread to people from the saliva of infected animals through an infected animal bite. Farid was bitten by a dog alongside his 3 friends and three months later, one of his friends died. Today, the signs and symptoms of the disease started to show on Farid even after he was given the necessary injections and medicines, but the necessary vaccine for this disease is not available in Taiz since the beginning of the war and the siege on the city, and its price tripled which led to inability to prevent the disease accompanied by an increased number of infected individuals in Taiz. The disease became a nightmare to the city people since it threatens the lives of all city residents.
