Yemen – Shabwa’s elite forces arrest a senior Qaeda leader

Shabwa’s elite forces recently arrested one of the most prominent al-Qaeda leaders, Ruwais Abdullah Mubarak al-Awlaki, after trapping his hideout in a remote area in al-Sayyid district of Shabwa province in southern Yemen. Security experts confirmed that the strikes received by al-Qaeda, whether through the coalition aircraft or the Yemeni forces, greatly affected the organization’s activity in Shabwa governorate, where many of its leaders were forced to leave Shabwa governorate to Marib and al-Baida governorates.
