Thousands of demonstrators in Nisour Square headed Saturday afternoon to the heavily fortified Green Zone in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

Demonstrators chanted slogans demanding the overthrow of the regime and the accountability of the corrupt and the killers of the demonstrators.

Security sources reported that the demonstrators in Nisour Square moved towards the Green Zone gate from the Harithiya neighborhood. Many protestors suffocated in clashes with security forces at Al-Jumhuriya Bridge.

Security forces closed Nisour Square earlier today, coinciding with the flocking of large numbers of demonstrators.
