Storyline:

Mosques in Iraq started welcoming worshipers to perform Tarawih prayers after the Corona pandemic forced a lockdown in the country.

Tarawih prayers were suspended for two years in most Arab and Islamic countries, to prevent people gatherings.

As life returns to normal this Ramadan, people started attending mosques, especially after Iftar, due to their keenness to perform Tarawih there.

(SOUNDBITE) Refaat Abu Ahmed – Worshiper:

“We are happy to perform Tarawih in mosques after this pandemic. We ask Allah to keep us safe.”

(SOUNDBITE) Dr. Abd al-Karim al-Khazraji – Imam of a mosque:

“May Allah bestow security, safety, and stability on our country.  I want to say that the prices of goods increase. Ramadan is a message of love and consolation for the poor and not for trading.

(SOUNDBITE) Mustafa Ahmed – Worshiper:

“It is a month of worshiping Allah. We should increase the acts of worship in this great blessed month.”
