Storyline

Iran-backed Houthi militias launched a missile attack on Jabal Habashi District affiliated with Taiz, killing a woman and wounding 5 others. An eyewitness said the missile hit his father’s house and led to a gas cylinder blast that caused his sister and his brother’s wife serious burn injuries. His brother was taken to hospital as he sustained burn injuries in his face and limbs. Residents believe Houthi militias deliberately launch these random attacks, which present an attempted genocide. Heavy bombardments led to school closures bringing a halt to the educational process in Taiz

SOUNDBITE (Muhammad Abdullah Ahmad Al-Fadhili – brother of the wounded woman)

Houthi militias intentionally targeted a whole town with long- and short-range missiles. My father’s house was targeted and a missile landed in the kitchen triggering a gas cylinder blast. My sister and my brothers’ wife were rushed into the hospital. They were admitted to the intensive care unit due to severe burn injuries. My brother as well sustained burns in his face and limbs

-SOUNDBITE ( Najeeb Al Omari- a resident):

Houthi militias’ recent attack is a crime by all accounts as they don’t differentiate between civilians and fighters. They even target cattle and water resources. Moreover, schools were closed. Those militias clearly don’t want our kids to learn, not to mention that even the clinic, we have inherited since the uprising, was also targeted. We are suffering from a human tragedy. Therefore, we call upon all peace-loving organizations to help us. We are living in appalling conditions and we can’t bear such a reality. Our kids were deprived of their childhood. Whenever my son hears an explosion, he comes to sit in my lap. Everyone is living in constant fear as these militias only know how to kill
