As the Yemeni currency’s value plummeted to an unprecedented level, the bakeries’ association in Aden was left with no options but to raise the bread prices. Numerous bakeries went bankrupt, and many others were forced to shut down after incurring hefty losses. The decision was spurred following a surge in Roti’s ingredients’ prices along with unaffordable rents, and a low purchasing power. Moreover, it was crucial to maintain a high standard of quality.
