Mongolia – Distinctive Mongolian cheese made from yak milk at an altitude of 3,000 meters

177

Cheese artisans from all around Mongolia gathered to present their products. The cheese produced in Mongolia has a distinctive taste due to the diverse natural regions and extreme weather conditions, depending on the characteristics of the local animals’ milk. An example of this is yak cheese made at an altitude of 3,000 meters in the Altai Mountains. Yaks, which are found in a few countries, produce very little milk, but are high in fat, making them ideal for high-quality cheese. The Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI) stated that it would support its cheese artisans and work hard to bring its products to the world market.
