Yemen- A New Initiative to Give Students a Free Ride Amid Poor Economic Reality
Amid disastrous economic reality and acute devaluation of Yemen’s currency, university students in Taiz launched an unprecedented initiative under the theme “on your way” to offer students a free ride to their schools and universities. Numerous students were forced into dropping out of the university as transportation fares became unaffordable. In this respect, the initiative’s organizers called on drivers of all vehicles to give students a free lift. Mohammad Ali, a participant, made it clear that many students are missing their classes as they can’t afford the transportation fares while others walk for long distances to reach their schools
