Syria – Youth forum on municipalities’ activities and the causes of their failure in North and East Syria

PEL -Civil Waves- Organization, held its second forum to discuss the role and activities of municipalities in the various regions of north and east Syria, under the slogan “Strengthening the role of municipalities in building peace and sustainable development.” The forum was attended by representatives and officials from around 12 municipalities in north and east Syria, as well as representatives of local and youth organizations and other community events. The forum discussed the executive mechanisms that the municipalities use in general as well as the projects they carry out, the challenges they face, the opportunities available to them, the duties of society towards the work of the municipalities, and the extent to which the municipalities contribute to enhancing security and stability in the region. Some participants pointed out that the municipalities, in general, did not play their role nor did they implement the recommendations of the first forum.
