Iraq – Iraqi Nationwide Calls for Legal Objection to the Election Results and not compromising UN staff
Some political experts and Iraqi citizens have expressed their support for the position of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, in calling on demonstrators to take peaceful and legal methods in communicating their objections to the results of the parliamentary elections, without transgressing the system and the prestige of the state, as he stated that any non-peaceful manifestations will disrupt public life and send negative messages to public opinion and the international community. Al-Kazemi’s position was announced during his meeting with the Ministerial Council for National Security, during which he stressed Iraq’s commitment to protecting international and diplomatic missions from any threat, and supporting them to carry out their work in accordance with international law and norms.
