Syria – Prices hike and absence of essential goods hamper the purchase in the markets
The markets in Manbij, the eastern countryside of Aleppo, suffer from a lack of purchase movement as a result of high prices caused by the devaluation of the Syrian Lira against the US dollar and the scarcity of some essential goods like sugar, the markets in north and east Syria, in general, are also experiencing a weakness in the purchasing process due to the high prices. Citizens believe that despite the state of safety in which they live, the poor purchasing power and weak economic conditions of most citizens cause a state of instability in the city. The residents of Manbij, in particular, have been suffering from the lack of sugar in addition to difficulty in obtaining diesel and the instability of its prices constituted a greater burden on the citizens, whereas they accuse traders of monopolizing these substances.
