Thailand – Pesticides and chemicals turn the Nakhon Nayok canal yellow
The canal, which begins at Nakhon Nayok River and lays along Rangsit-Nakhon Nayok Street through Pathum Thani to Chao Phraya River, turns into bright yellow color every season-changed period, due to the pesticides and a few other types of toxic chemicals used by farmers, Mr. Chalit Tongmanee, Chairman of Office of Nakhon Nayok Provincial Farmers Council, said it is impossible for Thai agriculturists to success in organic farming as all-natural water resources are contaminated. From their part, farmers stated that they cannot stop using chemicals in their farms and gardens due to the lack of organic supplies and the requirements for agricultural products, especially fruits.
