Jordan – King of Jordan and Palestinian President to Discuss Efforts to Advance Peace Process

On Sunday, Jordanian King Abdullah II and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas discussed, during their meeting in the capital, Amman, the developments related to the Palestinian cause and efforts to push forward the peace process. King Abdullah emphasized the need to intensify international efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive peace, enabling the Palestinians to establish their independent state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital. In turn, President Abbas valued Jordan’s supportive stances for the Palestinian people, stressing the importance of Hashemite guardianship over Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.
