Iraq – Sulaymaniyah marks the Islamic New Year with special ceremonies

On the first day of Muharram and the beginning of the Islamic New Year, Soraan and Ribaz, held special ceremonies in the middle of the streets of Sulaymaniyah by setting up a mess of sweets and fruits, to represent the importance of this day to Muslims, and to leave a religious impact. They offered sweets to displaced people and children who passed by and expressed their pleasure.
