Mongolia – Traffic accidents endanger the lives of children in Mongolia
Traffic accidents in Mongolia claim the lives of dozens of children every year, according to the country’s Traffic Police Department (TPD), 9,779 traffic accidents with child victims were registered between 2011 and 2020, with 10,332 children were injured and 485 killed. Traffic accident fatalities per Mongolian children were 59 in 2019, 64 in 2020, and 20 in the first half of this year in addition to 158 children who have been injured in the capital, Ulaanbaatar, and other areas. Although kindergartens and schools were closed and children have been under quarantine due to the COVID-19 pandemic, yet they have been still involved in road accidents under parental control.
