Syria-Displaced Women in Al-Hasakah Make their Living Through Crocheting

Despite poor living conditions in Washokani camp- Al-Hasakah, Noura mastered the art of crochet to meet her basic needs. After the Syrian opposition took over the region, Noura left her sewing tools and was forced into learning a new craft to make her own living and help her disabled husband. Noura indicated that she buys used clothes to get the wool and knit it again. She sells the knitted wool at affordable prices, not to mention that she trains girls on crochet to be able to meet their needs
