Yemen: Violence, inequality continue to plague women in conflict-ravaged Yemen
Taiz Province, Yemen 24/11/2016
The Taiz Observatory Centre for Women’s rights released its 2016 report on violence against women with yet more damning findings.
The annual report on Women and War listed 794 cases of women who had directly suffered from the war.
The conflict in Yemen has been catastrophic for its civilian population. Thousands have been killed and over 12 million people are now targeted for humanitarian assistance. Many have been pushed into grinding poverty. Under these strains, women are more vulnerable than ever to violence and exploitation.
