Yemen – A young disabled guy fights the hardship of life by selling ice-cream
Overcoming his disability, Amjad Faisal opened an ice cream business, depending on himself to support his family and improve their living condition against the challenges of life caused by the war and the siege imposed on Taiz, for the sixth year in a row. The 32- year Faisal established his project, starting a new life, especially after he was hit by a mortar shell, in late October 2015, that fell next to his house in the Al-Dahi neighborhood, in the heart of the city, and resulted in the amputation of his legs, as the war left thousands of people with disabilities across the country. According to humanitarians, Taiz received the largest share of the number of victims, destruction, and humanitarian and living deterioration, as 1,400 civilians suffer from disabilities, due to shells and mines planted in about 15 out of 23 districts, distributed on the outskirts and center of the city.
