Syria – The Kurdish Story Festival to hold in its seventh edition

24

The Kurdish Writers Union in Syria held the Kurdish Story Festival in its seventh edition, with the participation of 40 story writers from northern and eastern Syria, in addition to writers from the Kurds of neighboring countries such as Turkey and Iraq. The festival was held over 5 days, where stories, dealing with various areas of life, were read like revolutionary stories, those that mimicked social problems and other stories. The participants stated the stories were distinguished by their diversity in this edition, but some criticized the stories as still not keeping pace with international stories due to its proximity and being affected by the style of the storyteller, as well as the lack of knowledge of the story writers on the criteria for writing the story. The committee for evaluating the participating stories had received 47 stories from different Kurdish areas, but it chose only 40 of them, and the neighboring countries were unable to participate in the festival due to political disputes with Iraq and Turkey and closing the borders to them.
