Iraq – Iraq holds prominent ranks in spinsterhood
The phenomenon of spinsterhood in Iraq is alarming, as it ranks third in the world according to the statistics of international organizations, at a rate of 70%, and it reflects the fracturing of family building and the start of a stable life amid the repercussions and economic crises that have affected young men and women alike. The Kurdistan region of Iraq is witnessing a remarkable rise in these indicators, as it reached high levels of 36%, which is a high percentage. Organizations and jurists pointed out that the economic crisis prevented young people from thinking of marriage and starting a family, in addition to a shift in the individual’s thinking patterns, the great openness, and technological progress that led to constructing a future apart from the family formation.
