Iraq – One person died and many were injured when thousands of Iraqis rallied in Tahrir Square
The riot control forces and the preservation of the Iraqi order fired live bullets and tear gas canisters to disperse the protestors in Tahrir Square after some of them attempted to cross the Republic Bridge leading to the Green Zone, where the presidential headquarters and government decision centers are located. Tahrir Square also witnessed clashes between security forces and the media people there to prevent them from reporting the events, while press outlets confirmed that one person was killed in the shooting. These events occurred following the flood of thousands of the protest movements’ supporters and revolutionaries of October 25 from the southern central governorates and various areas of the capital towards the Al-Nisour and Al-Firdous squares in Baghdad and went to Tahrir Square as the center for the launch of their peaceful protest.
