Iraq – Parties connected to Iran stand behind the failure of energy projects

Iraqis suffer from a long-term electricity outage, especially in the summer, and the rise in temperatures for the past eighteen years, the electricity file is the most controversial in Iraq. Economic monitoring reports conducted by researchers of energy shows that this file is the most complex in terms of corruption and exploitation of public money, with about $75 billion spent on energy from 2010 to 2018. Observers see that the failure to complete such huge projects, in the past time is the result of powerful parties connected with Iran, attempting to hinder the completion of energy projects and continue importing gas and electricity from Iran in large quantities, because Iraq has vast oil resources.
