The decision of the Saudi authorities to halt the import of Lebanese agricultural products left an impact over the Lebanese society, as Lebanese agricultural exports to Saudi Arabia are estimated at $ 24 million annually, and about the consequences of this decision, which was due to seizing several shipments loaded with drugs inside pomegranate containers smuggled from Lebanon. The journalist, Tony Abi Negm, stated that Lebanon understands the ban’s decision because it falls into the framework of protecting its citizens from the drugs, adding that many reasons make Lebanon a drug export center, the most significant one is Hezbollah’s control over decision-makers in the Ministry of Agriculture, Economy, and Customs as well as it manages professional networks that control smuggling operations and forge documents.
