Syria – A Sculptor embodies Raqqa’s statues years after ISIS destroyed them

21

Aamer Omer, an artist from Raqqa, works in sculpture and drawing plastic paintings, yet he pays more attention to sculpture. The war destroyed most of Omer’s works, especially during the time of ISIS’s dominance when he missed his art because ISIS used to forbid the art of sculpture, and they destroyed plenty of his works and sculptures, so he had to work in the interior and exterior decoration to secure his livelihood. However after the regression of ISIS, “Omir” resumed sculpture, and most of his works imitate the city of Raqqa, embodying the monuments and features of Raqqa in his sculptures, as well as embodying social figures from the city in his artistic works.
