Iraq: The Minister of Displacement and Migration: Kurdistan Refugee Camps House 37 Thousand Displaced Families
Amid appeals from the Baghdad and Erbil governments to settle the displacement families’ dilemma by facilitating their voluntary return to their regions, the Minister of Displacement and Migration, Ivan Faiq confirmed that the Kurdistan region houses at least 37 thousand displaced families. Upon visiting displaced family’s camps, the Minister stated in a press conference in Sulaymaniyah Governorate that most of those families came from Saladin Governorate. During which, the Minister discussed the most pressing issues; the top of which is the tribal feuds that are making it difficult for refugees to go back. Furthermore, the Minister added that the government in Kurdistan deems those refugees as only guests who are supposed to return back to their regions
