Iraq – Young Muslims revive life in Maratoma Church to encourage Christians to return their homes

Mosul – Iraq 26/10/2020 

“Young people were in hand in every service and humanitarian work provided in the city of Mosul.” With these words, Raed Adel, the father in charge of the Syriac Catholic Churches, in Mosul described the “Recovery” campaign that was set up by the youth volunteers in the Sawaed Al-Mosul Organization to clean and restore life to the Church Martoma and the surrounding areas from the rubble left by the bombing of ISIS in the area. The church was a savior for civilians in the last weeks of the battles against ISIS. The goal of the organization is to send a message to the Christian community to return to their homes and neighborhoods.
