Iraq – US Re-Imposes Harsh Sanctions On Iran

The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo asserted to impose harsh sanctions on Iran. This comes after the AIEA announced that Iran’s stockpile of uranium has exceeded what was set by the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action by 10 times. The US Secretary invited the countries around the world to understand the fact that the nuclear agreement is over. The spokesman of Iran’s Ministry Of Foreign Affairs, Saeed Khatib Zadeh, responded on Twitter regarding the re-imposition of international sanctions, saying that 13 members of the UN Security Council, including president of the Council, declared that America does not have any legitimate basis to take such step, based on Resolution No.2231, because it is not a part of the nuclear agreement.

On the other hand, the UN Security Council rejected a request from the United States to trigger “Snapback” mechanism to re-impose sanctions on Iran.
