Iraq – Clashes between demonstrators and security forces in the vicinity of Al-Ahrar Bridge result in casualties and wounded individuals

A number of demonstrators tried to close the Al-Ahrar Bridge, which links the two sides of the capital, Al-Karkh and Al-Rasafa, in an attempt to cross into the Green Zone, the demonstrators burned rubber tyres and created human barriers to prevent any vehicle from crossing the bridge, after declaring civil disobedience and a general strike, Security sources reported that riot police used stun grenades and tear gas to disperse demonstrators and prevent them from crossing towards the Green Zone, as they tried to reopen the only bridge open in the center of the capital now after the closure of Aljomherya bridge as well as Alsink bridge, the clashes led to the death and injury of a number of demonstrators according to security and medical sources.
