Yemen – Ministry of Human Rights condemns Houthi crimes against civilians in Dhale
Aden – Yemen 15/05/2019
The Yemeni Human Rights Minister, Mohammed Askar, denounced the Houthis’ military escalation against civilians in Dhale province, northern Yemen, following a ground attack the Houthis had carried out against multiple villages in the province on the 5th of April, which killed 27 civilians, injured dozens, displaced thousands of families, and demolished many buildings. The Houthis also took control over several government institutions and houses, enforced a suffocating siege on the citizens and prevent them from accessing food, medicine and potable water. Askar called upon the international community to oblige the Houthis to put an end to all the crimes they commit against the people of Dhale, and allow the Yemeni Red Crescent and the International Committee of the Red Cross to transfer the corpses and the injured people, and permit humanitarian relief to be delivered to the province. He also denounced the United Nations and the Security Council’s lack of action towards the crimes committed by the Houthis against civilians, including terrorism and organized mass murder.
