Iraq – Analysts: Sanctions imposed on Iran disrupt decision-making centers
Baghdad-Iraq 12/05/2019
The US-imposed sanctions against Iran continue to disrupt Iraq’s decision-making centers, especially after several bilateral deals were signed in the oil, banking and transport sectors, followed by ending Iraq’s exemption from the sanctions on Iran. Analysts believe that these sanctions would cause a state of confusion in political and economic decision-making centers in Iraq, which, according to them, has become a confrontation arena for Iran and the United States. Others think that the US administration is fully aware that shutting the ports of Mesopotamia in the face of Tehran is enough to solve all the region’s crises, since they consider Iraq a strategic location for carrying out the US policies in the Middle East, and that might enable them from controlling Iran’s movements in the region.
