Alqosh – Mosul – Iraq 04/05/2019
Prophet Nahum’s shrine continues to undergo restoration and repair work in Alqosh town, near Mosul, northern Nineveh. This shrine, which dates back to 2700 BC, has been acclaimed as an important historical and cultural monument to Iraqi Jews over different historical eras. The director of Alqosh town, Lara Youssef, pointed out that restoring and repairing the shrine will add to the historical and cultural value of this small Iraqi town. She added that taking care of such shrines is a major contributing factor in attracting historical and religious tourism, not to mention that repairing this shrine is considered a message of coexistence and peace among the different Iraqi spectrums in the area. It is worth mentioning that the Prophet Nahum is a minor prophet whose prophecy is recorded in the Hebrew Bible or Old Testament.
