Iraq – Iraqi Foreign Minister and Turkish counterpart stress the need to resolve unsettled issues

The Iraqi Foreign Minister, Mohamed al-Hakim, emphasized his country’s desire to enhance its bilateral ties with Turkey, stressing that the Iraqi territory will not be used to intimidate neighboring countries. During a joint press conference Hakim held with his Turkish counterpart, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu in Baghdad, he stated that the recent mutual visits between senior officials of both countries will boost the relations between the two countries and will be a major contributing factor in resolving unsettled issues, improving the security situation, and increasing trade exchange. For his part, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said that the Turkish-Iraqi relations are making significant progress, adding that Turkey will offer the needed support for the reconstruction of Iraq, he also said that his country is ready to cooperate with Iraq to get rid of ISIS and clear the borders from any terrorist groups.
