Iraq – The Ministry of Culture celebrates International Women’s Day

The Iraqi Ministry of Culture organized an event at the National Theatre in capital Baghdad under the slogan “Women are the essence of life and their freedom reflects civility and graces” to celebrate International Women’s Day, participated in by Iraqi women and female artists. The Ministry gave out bouquets to the women and honored some pioneering female artists for the efforts they put throughout their careers. Despite the challenges that Iraq is facing nowadays, Iraqi women keep performing their duties hoping to maintain life’s sustainability during difficult times, especially for Iraqi women who are suffering severe violations of their rights and have thus become even more vulnerable now that cases of violent extremism and mass displacement have increased
