Baghdad – Iraq 03/03/2019

Life is back to normal to most of the regions in capital Baghdad after removing over 300 security checkpoints, along with several concrete barriers that were hindering traffic inside the capital. In addition to that, hundreds of main roads and side streets have been opened since last year. The concrete barriers were established 15 years ago during the US occupation of Baghdad in 2003 for the purpose of blocking armed and terrorist attacks. However, they did not have a significant impact on the number of shelling casualties.
