Iraq – Experts: State weakness behind the spread of weapons

A number of security and intelligence experts discussed the matter of making arms exclusively possessed by the state. They also attributed the arms spread in the Iraqi societies to the state’s weakness and the fragile political system. They pointed out that it is necessary to have a law that bans the acquisition of arms without a legal permit. This came during a seminar that took place in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, organized by the Republican Center for Strategic Studies in cooperation with the Citizenship Association for Human Rights.
