Iraq – Christians in Nineveh Plains celebrate Christmas Eve mass

Chrsitians in Qaraqosh Bakhdida in Al-Hamdaniya District east of Nineveh Governorate celebrated Christmas Eve, which they considered to be the most beautiful and remarkable night this year since their regions were liberated from ISIS in October of 2016. They adorned the churches, streets and buildings with decorations and Christmas trees. The celebrants expressed their wishes for peace and stability in the country, as well as the return of the displaced to their liberated regions and be able to reconstruct their houses which were destroyed by ISIS. A number of citizens also asked from the Iraqi government to reconstruct the infrastructure and restore the basic services in Nineveh Plains and liberated regions.
