Iraq – Analysts: Barzani’s visit to Baghdad is an attempt to content the repercussions of the previous crisis between Baghdad and Erbil

Political analysts described the visit President Massoud Barzani paid to Baghdad and his meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi and a number of Iraqi officials, as an attempt to content the previous crisis between Baghdad and Erbil following the referendum that took place in the region last year. They also pointed out that he attempts to raise the region’s budget for next year, and plans to talk over issuing some new laws that are still debated between the Government of the Region and the political blocs, although many parliament members disagree with what he wants. They added that this visit is considered as giving support to Abdul Mahdi’s government, since he had positive positions with the Kurdistan Government.
